Video Index Repair Tool

Rebuilds a missing or broken index for MP4 / MOV files with H.264 video, and generates a new thumbnail. Works fully in your browser — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

This tool only handles one specific, common kind of damage: an MP4/MOV file whose index (the moov atom) is missing or broken while the raw video data (mdat) is still intact — for example after a camera lost power mid-recording. It rebuilds the index by scanning the raw H.264 frames directly. It cannot fix video data that is itself corrupted, encrypted or DRM-protected files, or other codecs such as HEVC, VP9 or AV1. The frame rate and, in rare cases, the resolution are best-effort guesses rather than guaranteed-exact values.
